He is a Swiss academic philosopher and writer. He is the professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at St Antony&#8217;s College, Oxford, and also teaches at the Oxford Faculty of Theology.<\/p>\n \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He himself describes his book Islam and the Arab Awakening as follows: &#8220;This book makes no claim to reveal secrets, to unveil what may be strategic goals, and even less to predict the future. To do so would be madness, a combination of presumption and vanity. <\/p>\n \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It would also be futile.
